Counseling for Life Navigation

Helping Thoughtful People Find Their Way Back to Themselves

Life has become increasingly complicated.

We have access to more information than at any other time in history, yet many intelligent, capable people feel more overwhelmed, anxious, exhausted, and disconnected than ever before. They know what they "should" do. They've read the books, listened to the podcasts, tried the apps, and learned the coping strategies.

Yet something still feels off.

Over the past three decades, my work has been driven by one question: Why do people understand so much, yet continue struggling with the same patterns? That question eventually led me far beyond traditional counseling. It took me into neuroscience, nervous system regulation, trauma research, memory reconsolidation, nutrition, behavioral psychology, symbolic thinking, leadership development, and more than twenty years living and studying in New Mexico, where I had the privilege of learning alongside Indigenous teachers whose understanding of balance, community, ceremony, and human flourishing has shaped my work in profound ways.

Although these traditions come from very different worlds, they repeatedly pointed toward the same conclusion: Healing rarely begins with insight. It begins with regulation.

My doctoral research explored this same principle through the lens of memory reconsolidation and human change. Before the brain can reorganize old patterns, the nervous system must first experience enough safety to become flexible again. Information alone is rarely enough. The body must become capable of receiving it.

That realization changed the way I practice.

Today my work integrates evidence-informed neuroscience with practical tools that help people restore regulation, improve resilience, and reconnect the mind and body. Depending on your needs, that may include nervous system education, breathwork, HeartMath coherence training, somatic approaches, fascia regulation, guided imagery, sound-based relaxation, nutritional support, and structured counseling. These are not separate techniques. They are part of a single goal: helping the human system function the way it was designed to function.

I work best with people who have spent years carrying significant responsibility. Many are executives, physicians, healthcare professionals, attorneys, entrepreneurs, educators, caregivers, first responders, or parents. They are often highly capable, deeply compassionate, and remarkably resilient. They have learned to keep going, even when the cost has become invisible.

What they need is rarely more motivation. They need a language for understanding what their nervous system has been trying to communicate.

Together, we identify the hidden patterns creating unnecessary stress, restore capacity, strengthen emotional regulation, and develop practical tools that support clearer thinking, healthier relationships, better decision-making, and a greater sense of purpose.

Because I believe meaningful change doesn't begin by asking, "What's wrong with me?" It begins by asking, "What has my system been trying to tell me?"

When we learn to understand those signals, we stop fighting ourselves. We begin navigating. And better navigation creates better outcomes.
